Barnes & Noble announced the release of a new NOOK 7″ Tablet today. The tablet can be purchased online or in stores.
The new NOOk 7 offers double the storage of the older version. 16GB of storage is available, with the option to expand storage through microSD cards (up to 128GB). The NOOK 7 has a an IPS screen with a rather unimpressive resolution of 1024×600, which is a match for Amazon’s Fire 7 tablet. Other features include:
- IPS display
- Up to 7 hours of battery life
- Bluetooth support
- Google Play integration
The new NOOK 7 is available online or in store for $49.99. The tablet, at least on specs, compares very closely to the Amazon Fire 7, with the exception of price. The 16GB Amazon Fire 7 goes for $69.99 with special offers. When special offers are removed, it lists at $84.99, making the NOOK 7 $35 dollars cheaper, or almost half the price. I don’t find the prospect of the NOOK 7 as exciting as the new NOOK 10, and most of that comes down to the display. But, if you are looking for a cheap, basic Android tablet, the price is appealing even if the specs aren’t.
You can see the full list of specs and order online at Barnes & Noble.
